Sleep

Sleep occurs when our bodies and minds are at rest. Sleep gives our bodies the chance to recover from the day. Sleep can help with memory and learning, and it can also play a part in immune system function and body repair.

 The 5 stages of sleep

Why do we need sleep?

  • To help us learn new things.
  • To rest, restore, and rejuvenate our body.
  • To grow muscle.
  • To repair tissue.
  • To make hormones.
  • Help maintain a healthy weight.

How to improve your sleeping pattern?

  • Create a routine or a sleep schedule
  • Limit caffeine intake, especially after lunch
  • Limit or avoid naps during the day
  • Increase daily exercise
  • Maintain a healthy diet
  • Evaluate your sleeping environment and eliminate things that will prevent you from getting a good night rest
  • Allow or give yourself enough time to sleep
